| The
Association's Negotiating Team and the District met
Monday evening, August 14, to resolve the few remaining
issues preventing an agreement. After a marathon session,
the challenges were overcome, and we're pleased to
announce that the district and association have reached
an agreement, in principal, for a 4-year contract. Now, representatives from the two sides will meet August 29th to finalize discussions and draw up the wording for the agreed upon changes. The negotiations committee will meet later that day to approve the final product, and then the draft will be sent to members for their perusal. We hope to present the new contract at the general meeting and hold the ratification vote on September 5th, to be followed by Board ratification on the 7th. We feel that this agreement represents the most generous package the district has offered in many years, and we look forward to sharing the details in the days and weeks to come. While there were disagreements throughout the process, the negotiating team feels that the Board members involved went out of their way to listen to our concerns and actively sought ways to overcome the shortcomings in our previous agreements within the parameters they had set for themselves. |
