Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I know that many people enjoyed the Elks Christmas Party and the New Years Dinner. It looks like we will be starting out the New Year well at the Lodge, with five new candidates and one transfer member seeking membership into our Lodge.  Please come to the meeting on the 23rd to vote for then to join us. Let us see if we can keep this going and bring in a couple of new members each month.
Friday Night Kitchens are still going strong, but we could always put out a couple of more meals. Grab some friends and come down for a good meal and some good times.

Fraternally,
Jason Hager, ER

Ladies Auxiliary News

Happy New Year! The time is going so fast, I can't believe that it's a new year already. I hope things slow down a little now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays is over. In January some interesting things have happened in our history, such as: Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1,1863, First American presidential election, January 7,1789, Gold discovered in California, January 24, 1848, Amendment 18 to the Constitution, prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, ratified, January 16, 1919. Some famous birthdays are: Paul Revere, Betsy Ross, Millard Fillmore, Richard M. Nixon, Benjamin Franklin, William McKinley, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Dick Cheney.
Bingo kitchen is a real problem, as we seem to be having trouble getting workers. If we do not have people signing up, I can only come up with two options: 1) turn the kitchen over to the Lodge Members or 2) make up a mandatory work schedule of members. I really don't want to do either of these options, but due to the circumstances I feel there is no other choice. Bingo kitchen is our main source of income; it would be terrible to lose it. The raffle winners are: Eleanor MacDonald, Patty Earl and Fred MacDonald. I would like to welcome new member Lorrie Palmer to the Auxiliary. If anyone would like to be an officer please contact an executive member. I know that the secretary and the president seats are open. We are looking for fundraiser ideas. Remember the Craft Show and Bake Sale is March 15th.
Our next meeting will be on January 8th at 6:30. Hope to see you there. Prayers and thoughts to those who may not be feeling so well or cannot be here with us. God bless us all.

Respectfully,
Robinanne Little
Ladies Auxiliary President

Reminder - - If you are moving South for the Winter, please turn your change of address into the Secretary.

Elks Xmas Party

What a great Day! Everyone was on time to start the 2007 Christmas Party. Weather didn't scare us at all. There were approximately 60 Elks & Auxiliary members & guests that came to enjoy the festivities. Instead of gifts to exchange everyone brought a donation of food for the local pantry. We shared in a delicious array of snacks and finger foods along with drink specials from the bar. Everyone participated in a sing along and competition between the groups was tough. A thank you from the Lodge to everyone that helped make this a successful day.
