Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

With the holidays being over and old man winter dishing out whatever he
can, we are in what I call the dog days of winter. The months of
February and March are the longest months in the calendar year in my
eyes. I'm constantly walking through my house looking at my golf clubs
and dreaming of the day when I can get on the course to play. I believe
that's part of the reason why February and March seem to last forever.
I think all of us at some time or other look forward to different times
of the year. I do know that February and March to some people are the
best months of year, the skiers, skaters, snowmobiles etc. love the
winter months. If we get through the next couple of months, I know we
can look forward to Spring and new beginnings. Speaking of new
beginnings, my time grows short as ER. It's amazing that February and
March are all that's left of my term. Two months, it hardly seems
possible. I guess it's true what they say, "Time flies whey you're
having fun". I can honestly say that I have had fun, with a lot of work
mixed in to keep me extremely busy. Keeping this lodge going and
financially sound is a time consuming process. I can only hope that the
new members that have been initiated this past year truly want to work
and make this Lodge one of the best in the District. It takes a lot of
people to do all of the different activities that we do here. What I'm
trying to say is please volunteer your time. It's how you meet new
people and make true and everlasting friends in the process. It's what
being an Elk is all about! I'm rambling, so I'll close this letter out
by saying I hope everyone comes through the dog days of winter ready
for new beginnings. Fraternally,
Ralph Gschwind, ER

HAD ENOUGH WINTER YET?
TIRED OF THE COLD, DARK AND DREARY DAYS? Well come one, come all and
melt those winter blues away! Let the magic feeling of sand
under your feet warm you from the top of your head to the
tips of your toes!
Where you ask ? To our Lodge of course! When ? Sunday February 12th at 3:00 PM! What to wear? Beach attire of course! What can you expect? A limbo contest (how low can you go?) with a prize for best limbo contestants 45 and older and under 45. There will be a prize for best beach outfit (we will make sure the heat is turned up). A beach party wouldn't be complete without food. For only $2.00 you get a skewer of chicken speidies including a side of famous Huyck potato salad. And ask for a frozen margarita or daiquiri at the cash bar. All participants who wear a beach outfit will have their picture taken under the umbrella in a beach chair on the sand for a memento of the occasion. Intrigued yet? Well then make sure you don't miss out! Mark your calendar now and think fun in the sun in February in Upstate New York! |

Here it is 2006,
a New Year! As your new Bingo chairman, I hope it will be a prosperous
year.
Hopefully we can get another team to work Bingo, so that one team can work two weeks instead of three weeks. I'm working on getting a progressive jackpot going. My goal this year is making money for the lodge. If anyone can spare one Thursday night a month for Bingo, it would be appreciated. You can reach me at 563-7237. Let's all work together to make Bingo a successful event for our Lodge this year! A big thank you to everyone who has helped me thus far! Sandy Borden Bingo Chairman |
