Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

January is gone, and winter is finally here. I know that I am happy to see snow since I enjoy winter, but I know some of you are wishing you were somewhere warm right now. Well, I will guarantee that you will always find a warm welcome, if not warm weather, whenever you come spend some time at the Lodge.
February also brings the time for our Past Exalted Rulers to prepare the new slate of officers. In recent years there has been a lack of new volunteers to fill in the chairs. It is not a difficult thing to do, and can be very rewarding for anyone who wants to put in a little bit of time to help keep our Lodge going. I will be continuing to hold the post of the Exalted Ruler for another year and I am looking for some people who would be willing to help me over the next year. If you are interested in filling a chair, or want to get some more information, please come and see myself, or any one of our PER's soon. The slate of new officers will be chosen at the February 7th PER meeting.
Have a wonderful month, and enjoy the nice winter weather.

Fraternally,
Jason Hager, ER

Ladies Auxiliary News

February is a time to remember our Presidents and loved ones. Valentime Day is a great way to show our love for others. History has it that St. Valentine, a Roman, refused to give up his Christianity and died on February 14,269 A.D. Boxes of candy, bouquets of flowers, poems, and cards will be given generously. We celebrate President's birthdays this month as a way to honor all the presidents who have served our great country. Also, we celebrate and honor others; such as Ground Hogs Day (maybe no more winter, what winter?), Birthdays of Charles Dickens, Thomas Edison, Susan B. Anthony. Where would we be without these intelligent people? Mardi Gras is something else we celebrate; the colors have similar meaning to the Elks: purple -justice, green - faith, gold - power. As I look around at different traditions and customs I find the principles of the Elks: Brotherly Love, Charity, Fidelity, and Justice.
The Lodge is looking great and is getting back in the swing of things. Thank you to all who have contributed to the Kitchen Shower. We are looking for Bingo Kitchen workers; if we can get enough crews it could make it so one would only have to Work a few times a year, if you would like to be an officer please let the nominating committee chairperson know. Our Scholarship Raffle winners are: 1 st - Ray Selleck, 2nd - Steve Gransbury, 3rd - Bruce Watson. The Gun Show is February 11th; we still need a couple of kitchen helpers. You can contact me at 265-3804 or 434-6238.
The Craft Show and Bake Sale is March 31st. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, February 12th at 6:30. Hope to see you there. Prayers and thoughts to those who may not be feeling so well or cannot be here with us. God bless us all.

Respectfully,
Robinanne Little
Ladies Auxiliary President

Reminder - - If you are moving South for the Winter, please turn your change of address into the Secretary.

SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT DUES

Once again the dues for 2007-2008 are being printed right on
the bulletin instead of receiving an individual mailing. This
invoice is for the Sidney members only and not for friends,
widows, or members from other lodges who receive our
bulletin. This is being done once again to save the Lodge
about $150 in the cost of stamps, not to mention the high cost
of invoice forms and envelopes. Last years dues collection
was a huge success and I hope we can continue it again this
off the form which already has you name on it,
and mail it along with your check payable to:

Sidney Elks Lodge No. 2175
Attn.: Todd Henchey, Secretary
104 River Street
Sidney, NY 13838

Below you will find the costs for the upcoming year 2007-2008.
If you are unsure what type of member you are, or how much you dues are,
please contact me at 563-2175 or 639-1398 and I will be happy to help you.

Fraternally,
Todd J. Henchey, PER, Secretary
