A Fraternal Organization

Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

February is here, which in Elkdom means it is time to think about dues and take nominations for officers. So far for next year we have Jan Gorshack nominated to take over as Exalted Ruler. If anyone is interested in becoming an officer, please come and see Jan, myself, or one of the Lodge officers.
We will be holding an Initiation on February 13th and would love to see some people in the audience, so please, come on down for a meal at 7:00 (for those attending the Initiation) and the meeting at 8:00.
February is going to be a busy month at the Lodge with a lot of events that everyone can attend. We will be holding parties for both the Superbowl and the Daytona 500 ! The final drawing for the Elks 50/50 and our annual Soup Day will also be bringing people together for some fun and food. So be sure to stop down for at least one, if not all of these fun events!
Have a wonderful month, stay warm and think of your loved ones.

Fraternally,
Jason Hager, ER

Ladies Auxiliary News

February is here so soon. I really enjoy some of the holiday and traditions this month. Did you know: Amendment 24 to the US Constitution, banning poll tax, was proclaimed in 1964, and Boy Scouts of America were incorporated 1910. Also, February is called Sol-monath (cake-month) as the Anglo Saxons offered cakes to the gods. The modern name February is only a little over 100 years old, before that it was Februeer, and before that it was called Feverell. Candlemass Day (a Christian festival) is held on the 2nd, it is an ancient festival to mark the midpoint of winter. Some famous birthdays are: Norman Rockwell, Ronald Reagan, Babe Ruth, Charles Dickens, William Henry Harrison, Thomas Edison, Abe Lincoln, L.L. Bean, Susan B. Anthony, George Washington, and Johnny Cash.
Welcome Pat Tartaglia to the Auxiliary. Sylvia Roberts will chair the Margaret Jester Scholarship. If any one would like to be an officer please contact a Board of Director, Nancy Francisco or Edna Ludwig. I know that the secretary and the presidents seats are open. A Slate of Officers will be presented at the February meeting and voted on at the March meeting. We are looking for fundraiser ideas. The Executive Committee met to discuss the Bingo Kitchen and decided to send out a letter to increase the number of workers. IF you could work just one or two kitchens a year that would be a great help, and probably that would fill up the schedule. The kitchen is our main source of income. We discuss the kitchen at every meeting. Remember the Craft Show and Bake Sale is March 15th, February 10th is the Gun Show, April 6th is installation of Officers, and April 19th is the Payee Dinner.
Our next meeting will be on February 12th at 6:30. Hope to see you there. Prayers and thoughts to those who may not be feeling so well or cannot be here with us. God bless us all.

Respectfully,
Robinanne Little
Ladies Auxiliary President

Reminder - - If you are moving South for the Winter, please turn your change of address into the Secretary.
