Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

It's hard to believe, but we ave gone from Spring to Summer. The Fourth of July is right around the corner. Summer marks the beginning of families and friends getting together for picnics, cookouts, days spent at the beach or pool side, children on vacation from school and farly vacations. These are American traditions that have been carried on down through the generations. As Exalted Ruler, I sincerely wish ALL members and their families a happy and fun filled summer with lots of the traditions I already mentioned And of course, anything your families do together during the summer that I didn't mention.
With summer officially underway, I would like to remind ALL members that activities at our Lodge do not take a vacation. We still have fund-raisers booked; we have Bingo on Thursday nights; and many other events taking place throughout the summer. One such event was held on the 18th of June. Officer Jan Gorshack of the Sidney Police Department and our Lodge Drug Awareness chairman held * D.A.R.E. carnival at our Lodge for D.A.R.E. students from the Sidney Central School District that I had the privilege of attending. It was 2 hours of games, contests, and of course food for the students. The students seemed to have a great ime and Officer Gorshack did a fantastic job getting the students to participate in all the planned activities. The efforts of Officer Gorshack and the members of our Lodge did not go unnoticed. Thanks to Jan and everyone who helped him. The members of our Lodge should know that our D.A.R.E. program truly is PRICELESS. Have a great summer everyone!

Fraternally,
Ralph Gschwind,ER

LADIES & GENTLEMEN OF SIDNEY ELKS LODGE 2175

Last month I wrote a letter about needing more volunteers to work BINGO. I would like our members to know that 3 people responded. After my return from the National Convention in mid-July, I will get together with those members to see if we can get some more volunteers to finish making a crew. To the rest of our members, I urge you to take one night out of a month and volunteer to work BINGO. Remember a lot of the monies that we earn at this goes back to the community in the form of donations for various events. So please let me hear from some more people. Call 563-1589 after 5:00 PM

    Thank You
    Ralph Gschwind, ER, Bingo Chairman
