Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

I
hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. Steve and I attended the
Elks Nat'l Convention in Minneapolis, July 3rd - 8th. It was a great
experience for us both. I attended meetings everyday, and he went sight
- seeing. Meetings were long, but very informative. At every meeting
the subject of Membership always came up. When you think of your membership in Elkdom, what comes to mind? The social events, the charity work and accomplishments the Order is noted for? Are you an Elk Member who pays their dues year after year or are you an Elk who helps and makes the programs of the Order work? Are you a cheerful Member who has new concepts and ideas or do you just pay you dues! What is Elkdom? Elkdom is not just what we give, it's the significance of our giving! It's not just the sociability we enjoy, it's the Brotherhood we believe in. Elks care and Elks share! Fraternally,

Ladies Auxiliary News
Our Alumni Breakfast was once again a great success.
Thank you to all who volunteered your time. We had many compliments on the great food. Most people really enjoyed the chance to see old friends and have the time to chat while having a great breakfast. This just keeps getting "bigger" every year. The Sidney Alumni really looks forward to having this breakfast available to them each year and appreciates the good food and fun time. BINGO KITCHEN Thank you again to all of our volunteers that work in the kitchen for Thursday night Bingo. Everyone has been doing a fantastic job. This is hard work and you are very much appreciated by the Bingo people and the Lodge. We still need more volunteer bakers for Bingo. Please help us by baking if you can. Gail Ostrander is working on a list, so please call me if you can bake, 563-3008. August 5th - Francine Feltman, Diane Cutting, Brenda Philpott August 12th - Janet Pendorf and Sandy Borden August 19th - Vikki Ostrander and Gail Ostrander August 26th -Joan Pell, Edna Ludwig, Brenda Philpott We still need Bingo kitchen volunteers for September 2nd and September 30th if anyone can help. Please call me if you can volunteer. (563-3008). In our June meeting we asked each Auxiliary member to donate potholders for the Kitchen. Please bring in one or two pot holders and leave them in the kitchen if you can. This is really appreciated by the Lodge. No meeting for August. Have a wonderful summer. Sincerely,
Brenda Philpott President |

| TO MY FELLOW ELK MEMBERS I know that in the past, we have experienced some problems with food mysteriously disappearing.(maybe not so mysteriously). It has happened again! I have discovered a full case of pork chops has vanished. I was planning to use them as another special for a Friday night dinner. I hope the person responsible for this realizes that they are hurting the lodge. If they are experiencing a hardship, the Elks Lodge has the means to help you. Everything will be held in confidence if you come forward and talk to the appropriate people. We are ALL supposed to be working together to keep our lodge a successful lodge. Please, let's focus on supporting our lodge, not our lodge supporting us. Sincerely, Barb Butler |
