Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children


         I would like to apologize to the members and friends of Sidney Lodge #2175 for not getting a newsletter out last month.  It was entirely my fault and I will make sure that it never happens again.
          Now, on to better things.  I was proud to represent our lodge at the Grand Lodge Convention held in Charlotte, NC in July.  I am amazed at the number of Elks in attendance at the Convention each year.  There were over 7,000 people registered at the convention!  It makes for a very overwhelming experience to see the convention hall set up to hold that many people and the chairs filled with all of the different colors of state jackets.  There were many meetings and seminars held during the convention and I attended as many as I could.  The amount of information that is available to help the subordinate lodges is incredible.  It was a great experience and I would like to thank you all for the privilege of representing you.
         The President of the New York State Elks Association, Bruce A. Hidley, will be making his visitation to the South Central District the weekend of September 14th.  The schedule of his visitation is:
  • Friday September 14th
    • 4:30 pm Endicott Lodge for Appetizers
    • 6:30 pm Owego Lodge for Dinner
    • 9:30 pm Homer Lodge for a Nightcap
  • Saturday September 15th
    • 8:00 am Vestal Lodge for Breakfast
    • 10:00 am Johnson City Lodge for a Danish
    • 11:30 am Binghamton Lodge for Lunch
    • 1:30 pm Sidney Lodge for Snacks
    • 6:00 pm Cortland Lodge Cocktails and Dinner
    • 9:00 pm Homer Lodge for Football and Cards
  • Sunday September 16th
    • 8:00 am Norwich Lodge for a Danish
    • 10:00 am Oneonta for Breakfast
All Elks are welcome at any of the visitation stops and I hope that we will have a good showing for his stop in our Lodge

We would like to thank all who participated in the 50/50 Raffle.  Everyone who came to the final drawing had a good meal and a fun time listening to Bobby V and Ralph babbling on the mic.  Thanks to all who helped make the raffle a success.  Tickets for the next raffle are now available, see your favorite seller and get one before they are all gone!  The next drawing will start the 1st week in October and the final drawing will be February 9th, 2008.
