November,
the month that denotes Thanks. It is the month that Americans and most
Elks celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving. I can remember when I was
younger, the whole family getting together to enjoy a meal with one
another. From grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, brothers,
sisters, and children to special guests that a family member brought to
join us for the meal. I can remember my mother getting out of bed at
five AM to put the turkey in the oven to start cooking. The smell of
all the different foods and desserts that cooked throughout the day was
enough to make a same person go nuts with hunger pains. But enough of
my family Thanksgiving memories. The month of November mainly means to be thankful. We all have a lot to be thankful for. We can be thankful for all of the families who survived the devastation of hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. They will have the tough job of rebuilding their homes, villages, towns and cities and eventually their lives. We can be thankful for all of our brave men and women in the armed forces who are putting their lives on the line every day for our American way of life. And let us not forget the brave men and women of the armed forces who have given the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom. So you can see, we truly do have a lotto be thankful for. Keep all of these people in your thoughts and prayers daily and be thankful for what we all have. I would like to wish ALL Sidney Elks members and their families a Very Happy Thanksgiving. And remember, don't over eat on Thanksgiving Day, there is always Friday and leftover turkey sandwiches. Fraternally,
Ralph Gschwind, ER

The
wing day crew wishes to thank you for your continued patronage. We
apologize to those that we had to turn away despite our attempt to foil
the possibility of selling out. Even with an extra case (thats 200lb
total), we ended up with only 119 dozen due to the monster size (they
were a 7 count instead of 10 per pound) Rest assured however we are
working on alternative means of insuring that history will not repeat
itself again.
From the crew; Thank you again Ed, Gail, Sharon, Tara, J.R., Garry. And.... Oh yea Vee did show. |

I am going to make one more plea for help to run Bell Jar on Bingo
night. It's a shame it is so difficult to get voluneteers in an
organization with our membership. There are a lot of Elks out there,
It's disturbing there are only a hand full of good ones.
