Drugs are Killers - Watch Your Children

May marks the beginning of the growing
season. Flowers are starting to spring from the ground and the trees are
beginning to awaken after their long winter nap. The same goes for our
lodge, new Officers, new ideas and lots of hope for great and wonderful
things. We will have a work detail on May 3rd starting with breakfast at
8:30 am. Please try to find a little time to come and help as there is
something for everyone to do. As they say, many hands make light work. If
you would like to help in the kitchen, with yard work, painting, clean up
or trim work, please sign up at the bar so we have some what of a head
count for breakfast. Mother's Day is a holiday which celebrates motherhood and the contributions of mothers to society. Bring your loved ones to the lodge on the 11th for a fantastic breakfast and a morning of no dishes for your special lady. Don't forget Mother's eat for free. Let us not forget the sacrifices made by our veterans this Memorial Day Holiday. Display your American flags to show your pride and commitment to the active Military personnel who are away from home and their loved ones, ensuring our safety and protecting the rights, we as Americans enjoy. Please note that May 30th is Officers night in the kitchen. As there will be no Friday Night Kitchen on June 6, we will be having Prime Rib, corn on the cob and as a special dessert, strawberry shortcake. We are still looking for someone to fill the position of Leading Knight. If you are interested please let me know.
Fraternally yours,
Jan Gorshack, ER |

May Day marks the end of the uncomfortable
winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere. I take this month to
heart as it's the time to remember our fellow man. Memorial Day is special
to me as I feel it is time to thank past and present military members and
also our family members who have made us what we are. Mother's Day is the
time to thank "Mom" for all she has done and does for us. On May 10,1752
Benjamin Franklin's first tests the lightning rod, and the first Mother's
Day observance took place in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, 1908. The
last Ford Model T automobile was made, May 31,1927. Some days of interest
are: the 9th is Lost Sock Memorial Day, the 14th is National Dance Like A
Chicken Day, the 17th is Pack Rat Day, the 30th is My Bucket's Got A Hole
In It Day. If any one has pictures or articles about the Auxiliary they are willing to share with us please contact Eugenia Landers as she is our new Historian. She is trying to rebuild what we have lost from the flood. Scholarships applications have been reviewed and interviews will take place soon. Bingo Kitchen workers for May are: 1st - Nora Cole & Lola Palmer, 8th - Jean Davis & Dale Rigas, 15th - Jean Selleck & Eleanor MacDonald, 22nd - Marilee Martin & Janet Rude, 29th - Francine Feltman, Edna Luidwig & Janet Pendorf. We will be having a Father's Day breakfast in June, if you can help please call me. We also are holding the Alumni Breakfast on July 19th, a sign up sheet is at the Lodge, there are a lot of helpers needed. We are looking into hosting another Craft Show this fall. Our next meeting will be on May 13 at 6:30. Hope to see you there. Prayers and thoughts to those who may not be feeling so well or cannot be here with us. God bless us all. Respectfully,
Robinanne Little Ladies Auxiliary President |
