Charities & Current Projects

The current District 20-Y1 project for 1997-2000 is Vision 2000 Ophthalmology Advancement Campaign. Our club has made a three-year commitment to this project. This campaign will provide the University Vision Care and Research Centers with a source of funds that will be used to further enhance the research and ophthalmic care at the Health Science Center at Syracuse. Ultimately, through the success of this campaign, our goal is to help put an end to blinding disorders that plague our nation and the world. Some of these conditions include glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and diabetic eye diseases.

Other local club projects include:

Sponsorship of 4 scholarships for the Gilbertsville - Mt. Upton school.
Sponsor local school sports including little league, soccer program, girl scouts & boy scouts.
Christmas baskets for the less fortunate.
Respond to local requests for emergency assistance for families due to medical or physical needs.
Sponsor Peace Poster contest at Gilbertsville - Mt. Upton school.
