"WE SERVE"
Mt. Upton Lions Club
Mt. Upton, New York, USA
The Mt.Upton Lions was formed on March 27, 1951. We presently have 21 members. Our mission is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.
Mt. Upton Lions Club held their 50th
Anniversary party Sept
29th 2001.At that time Lions David Russ and Robert Farrell were
awarded
Life Memberships. Picture left to right. King Lion Arthur
Christensen,
Lions David Russ, Lion Robert Farrell and DG Dr Paul Weber.
The annual peace poster contest was sponsored
at the Gilbertsville Mt.
Upton School this year. The theme was "I dream of world
peace."
First place winner was Whitney Thies. Second place was won by
Ashley Crissell and in 3rd place was Nash Roseboom. All three
students
received a cash award from the Mt. Upton Lions club.
Lions Club President Jim Weibel presented the
checks and his thanks to
Mrs. Thies and the students for their partivcipation and
enthusiasm. It's obvious that
these young people have strong ideas of what peace means to them.
The first place drawing has been entered in the district
competition.
The winner of that will go to international competition.
